US Goverments' data collection program for Educational Resources [www.learningregistry.org]

Learning Registry (http://www.learningregistry.org)
As Christensen discusses in Disrupting Class one of the promise of computers in education is the promise of the ability to create personalized learning solutions based on extensive data about what learning experiences are working, with what students, with what sorts of backgrounds and learning styles and in what environments. Right now this data is sorely lacking. Posters at OCW conferences talk about the google anaytics of downloads and views from their websites.
The Learning Registry is a government funded project that might be moving towards Christensen's dream. They are working with US opn educational resource creators and providers to pool data and make it publically available. It seems to still be in design and no data to actually see yet but they seem to be working with the major players in the US such as OCW, NSDL, PBS, Connexions, etc. etc.. Definitely a project to watch.
Sugar Labs might want to watch this project and as they hopefully develop a infrastructure for collecting and understanding usage and outcome data the methodology may be applicable to activities.sugarlabs.org.
