- Scroll down to the footer.
- Click Data Administration
- Click Manage Course Materials
Administering a Course
There are currently 5 categories in the training page. They are namely; General Training, Home Depot Training, Vendor Training, Training Curriculum and Product Training by Class.
These categories are represented in the Training Page as the first level folders in the navigation tree.
If a course has not been categorized into any of these 5 categories, the course will be made visible under a folder Uncategorized Courses. This folder is visible only if there are courses that have not been categorized.
To categorize a course:
- Go to the Course Materials Management Page
- Click on the Admin button of the course you want to categorize
- Click the More Info link to show more information about the course
- From the categories drop down, choose a category and click Update
To administer categories:
- Go to the Course Materials Management Page
- Click Administer Categories
- Click Course Categories, it is the category tree that is mapped to the courses.
To add a new category:
- Click Add root category
- In the form that appears, enter a name.
- Enter a description, it is optional
- Click OK
To delete a category, click the trash icon for the category you wish to delete.
To edit a category, click the edit icon for the category you wish to edit.
Reorganizing Items
A course can have a number of items in it, namely;
o SCORM package (webcontent)
o Video streams from the Monthly Guidance Portal (file_storage_object)
o PDF files (file_storage_object or webcontent, depending on how it is added)
The order of items can be changed by clicking the Up and Down links for the corresponding items in a course.
Items can be deleted by clicking on the delete link for an item
PDF files can be added to existing courses. They can be chosen from an existing file storage instance or uploaded directly.
To add a pdf file:
- Go to the Course Management page
- Click on the Admin button for the course you want to add a pdf file to
- Make sure File is selected on the drop down.
- Click Add
- Choose whether you want to Add a New File or Choose an existing file from the drop down.
- If you, choose to Add a New File, click Browse
- Choose a PDF file from you computer
- Enter a Title
- Click OK to upload the PDF File
- If you choose to select a file, choose a file from the drop down
- Click OK to add the existing pdf file
Videos are taken from the file storage instance which stores the same videos that are available in the Monthly Guidance Portal.
To add a video to a course:
- Go to the Course Management page
- Click on the Admin button for the course you want to add a video to
- Make sure Video is selected in the drop down.
- Click Add
- Select the video you want to add from the drop down.
- Click OK
