How to add files to XoWiki

The following documentation illustrates how to add files to XoWiki.

1. Log on as admin to http://www.lnwprogram.org and go to the front page of the wiki package you want to add files to.  This is usually in the form "http://www.lnwprogram.org/<subsite>/<xowiki>" or "http://www.lnwprogram.org/<full_path_to_your_wiki>".  Let us use http://www.lnwprogram.org/311program/xowiki as an example.
   
   
   
   
2. Notice the links on the upper right corner of the page.  Click on Admin.  This brings you to the Admin page which displays the different kinds of XoWiki pages.
   
   
   
   
3. Each type or kind of XoWiki page has its own corresponding add and delete links symbolized by icons.  Click the add link that corresponds to the XoWiki page type "file".
   
   
   
   
4. Clicking the add link will bring you to the next page where you may add a new XoWiki file.
   
   
   
   
5. Fill-in the necessary information such as the Name, Section, Content, Page Title, Description, etc.  Note that the Creator has been already been pre-filled.  You may, however, change this, if necessary.  Click OK to continue and save.
6. Upon saving, notice that the new XoWiki file that you have just created has been added to the number of instances for XoWiki Files.
   
   
   
   
7. You may click the on number of XoWiki Files from the Instances column to go to the Index of XoWiki Files and display all existing XoWiki files. 
   
   
     
8. The Index of XoWiki Files displays all the existing XoWiki files, the names of each file, size, date and time it was last modified, and the user who last modified each XoWiki file.  Note also that from the Index of XoWiki Files, you have the option to add another XoWiki file by the clicking the Add XoWiki File button situated to the left of the XoWiki File Names.  This brings you again to the Create a New XoWiki File page where you may add another XoWiki file.
   
9. To view the Index Page for the whole XoWiki instance, click on Wiki located at the bottom of the page.
   
   
   This brings you to the Index Page of the whole XoWiki instance.  This should include a short history of activites for all types of XoWiki including the Recently Changed Pages, the ones that were last visited, and the Most Popular XoWiki pages.
   
   
   
   This index should display the XoWiki files you have just added or edited.
10. To refer to an XoWiki file from a page, use the format as follows:
    

    [[file:{xowiki_filename}|{Title_of_XoWiki File}]]

    You may use this format to make an xowiki file available to the users for viewing or downloading.
    

    For instance, you have added an xowiki file named Test_XoWiki_File_2, as shown in the image in Step 7, which contains instructions on how to add xowiki files.  From an XoWiki Page, you may refer to this xowiki file this way:
    

    [[file:Test_XoWiki_File_2|How to add XoWiki Files]]

    This will make the file available to users for viewing and downloading.
    
    
    
    
    
    
11. Click OK to save.  Notice the file link visualized by a small file icon.  Clicking this file link will allow users to view or download this file.
    
    
12. Note that when file link is inserted and the referenced file does not exist, XoWiki presents the square brackets to allow you to upload the file to the XoWiki folder.
