How to Reset the Password for MEL
Part of the Moodle, Elgg, and LAMS integration is implementation of the single sign-on between Moodle and Elgg. This means that users will no longer need to sign on separately to Moodle or Elgg. There is only one user login for both.
Part of the user login is the resetting of passwords. This section should guide the administrator on how to reset user passwords.
- Log on to the site and input your correct user name and password.
- On the left-hand navigation, click Users, then, Accounts, and then, Browse list of Users. Otherwise, you may go directly to http://[your_site]/admin/user.php. This brings you to the list of users.
- You may search for a specific user. To do this, specify the user name on the text field provided and click Search.
- You may also search for users according to the letters of the alphabet. Click A from the first row, or First name, to display users whose first names begin with the letter A, or you may click A from the second row, or Surname, to display users whose last names begin with the letter A, and so on.
- To display all user names, click Show all users.
- When browsing all users, notice that each user has corresponding Edit and Delete links. Click the Edit link that corresponds to the user whose password you want to change.
- Otherwise, click the full name of the user from the First Name/Surname column, then click Edit Profile.
This brings you further to this user's profile where you may edit user information.
You may click the Show Advanced button to display more information. Click this button again to hide advanced information.
- Type the password in the New Password field.
- Mark or check the Force password change check box.
- Scroll down and click Update Profile. This brings you back to the list of users.
